AC/DC power supplies for computer based systems in the power range of 75W – 540W, according to ATX and SFX specification. Some series are equipped with a powerful 24VDC output in addition to the typical ATX outputs (3.3V, 5V, +12V, -12V, 5VSB). The power and control electronics for the UPS function is integrated in the ATX and SFX power supplies. The change-over from mains to battery operation is completely uninterruptible without any change-over (like an online UPS). The lifetime of the electronics for the UPS function is, like the AC/DC power supply unit, designed for at least 10 years at 40°C ambient temperature. This allows uninterruptible power supply systems with maximum reliability to be implemented. Various interfaces for monitoring and controlling the UPS functionality are available (RS232, USB). Different battery technologies are available for the external battery:

• valve regulated, sealed lead batteries with VDS approval (6-9 years DesignLife (EUROBAT))
• Nickel-cadmium batteries (NiCA)

for higher service life and temperature requirements:

• nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries
• LiFePO4 batteries
